Join the SC Bar Education Law Committee and CLE Division on November 17 for “The Impacts of Covid-19 on Education Law.” The first panel will discuss the effect of school closures and the shift to virtual and hybrid learning on special education services, truancy, and discipline. It will feature Barbara Drayton, Deputy General Counsel, General Counsel's Office, SC Department of Education, Jennifer Rainville, Education Unit, South Carolina Legal Services, Amanda Hess, Attorney, South Carolina Protection & Advocacy.
The second panel explores issues related to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), scope of employer required reasonable accommodations, privacy concerns related to virtual learning, and long-term impacts of teacher vacancies. It will feature Jack Cohoon, Special Counsel, Burnette, Shutt & McDaniel; Eugene H. Matthews, Attorney, Richardson, Plowden & Robinson; Thomas Barlow, Partner, Halligan, Mahoney & Williams.
