The S.C. Bar Dispute Resolution Section is offering quarterly 1-hour CLEs in 2021, beginning with this one on February 17.  These CLEs will be free to the members of the DR Section.  Registering for this seminar or another one offered at the seminar price will give you membership in the Dispute Resolution Section for this year.

Our first seminar will feature Kabrina Bass and Nichole Davis as they discuss the effects of unconscious bias has on the ADR process and acknowledging bias through self-assessment.

This seminar is a basic to intermediate level program.

About the Speakers

Kabrina Bass, Executive Director of Midlands Mediation Center.  She is an exceptional trainer in conflict management, leadership development, and overall communication theories and methods. Kabrina is a trained mediator, facilitator, and conflict practitioner. She earned a Bachelor and Master Degree in Religion and is currently working on another Master Degree in Conflict Management at Kennesaw State University.   Kabrina is a co-facilitator with USC Collaborative Race Project’s “Welcome Table” which strives to help communities understand the importance of listening, storytelling and relationship-building as prerequisites to producing real and measurable change.  

 

Nichole Davis serves as Risk Management Director at the South Carolina Bar and as administrator of the South Carolina Supreme Court’s Lawyer Mentoring Program. Prior to joining the SC Bar staff, Nichole litigated child abuse and neglect cases on behalf of the Department of Social Services. Nichole is a member of Leadership South Carolina class of 2019, a member of the ABA Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy Class of 2019, and a member of the SC Bar Leadership Academy Class of 2015. She is a recipient of the 2018 Silver Compleat Lawyer Award and in 2016, she was named SC Bar Young Lawyer of the Year. She also serves as an adjunct professor at UofSC Law and as Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for The RAM Foundation, which offers a free 6-week summer enrichment program to underprivileged youth.
