Tags: Appellate Practice
Join Justin Kahn for a special free
two-hour program entitled “Trial by Visuals: Use and Admissibility of
Demonstrative Evidence.” This special CLE program is available only to
current members of the SC Bar Trial and Appellate Advocacy Section and you may
attend live and in-person at the SC Bar Conference Center or by live individual
webcast. Justin Kahn will discuss the creation and use
of visual tools for effective trial advocacy, ranging from the basic such as
flip charts and photos, to the more advanced such as computer-generated
re-enactments. He will explain why some visuals are admitted into evidence,
while others may only be used for demonstrative purposes. And, he will share
the benefit of using visuals, not just to communicate with and persuade the
jury but also to prepare yourself and your case for trial. Included will be a
discussion of useful apps and technology, and preservation of issues related to
the use of visuals, particularly those not admitted into evidence, for appeal.
Whether you are a plaintiff or defense attorney, this program will provide you with the courtroom technology tools and strategies you need to win your next case.
Attendees will learn
· why using visual tools can be a useful tool for trial persuasion;
· basic tools for creating and using visuals in the courtroom;
· computer technology for creating and using visuals;
· considerations in creating and using visuals;
· the Rules of Evidence governing the use and admission of visuals, both demonstrative and real evidence; and
· preserving issues related to visual evidence.
