Wellness on the Water

April 21, 2023

Warm weather is fast approaching and what better way to spend a Friday afternoon in April than paddling with your colleagues down the cool, scenic Saluda River!  The South Carolina Bar-CLE Division and the South Carolina Bar Environmental Law Section are excited to sponsor “Wellness on the Water”!

We will meet at the SC Bar Conference Center where course planners Michael Traynham will give an overview and updates on water regulation after 50 years of the Clean Water Act.

After a brief lunch break (lunch will be provided) Shannon Bobertz with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources will provide a substance abuse/mental health program that is interactive and focuses on reasons people leave the practice of law, love the practice of law, compassion fatigue, anxiety and control, cultivating happiness and purpose, mindfulness and breathing exercises. She will talk about the cycle of anxiety and stress starting in law school, and why it continues in the practice of law, and skills and tools we can use to change it.

After the seminar participants will drive over to the kayak shuttle located at 202 Hudson St West Columbia, SC 29169 where JK Adventure Guides will take us on an adventurous paddle down the Saluda.

Attendance is limited! Register now!
