About the Seminar
The Real Estate Section’s seminar will focus on real life scenarios and how attorneys have addressed or dealt with those issues. The focus of this seminar will be to stimulate thought and discussion on three topics that affects all bar members, not just real estate attorneys.
Jim
Blackburn will present “The unforgiving Minute” in which he tells his personal
story of his professional success and his ethical violations which ultimately
ended his legal career. He will examine
the causes of his action which includes a discussion on depression and mental
health issues that that potentially affect all attorneys.
Jamie
Kosofsky is a partner with Brady and Kosofsky, a North Carolina based firm
whose practice is dedicated to the practice of real estate law. Jamie will
discuss the catastrophic fire that destroyed the firm’s primary location. This
real-life story of a firm that had to rebuild after a total loss will impart
things the firm handled well; how they recovered and what was learned in the
aftermath. This discussion will prove relevant to all attorneys and their
firms.
A panel
discussion on how various real estate attorneys handled the Covid-19 crisis.
Attorneys will share strategies and stories on practice management and delivery
of client services during a pandemic. This panel is intended to be a discussion
to share idea and experiences as the practice evolves.
