This is an introduction to some of the most widely employed and useful financial analysis techniques. You will learn quick and easy-to-apply tools and concepts that help answer questions about an entity. Is it in danger of not being able to meet financial obligations? Is it financially stable? Is reported past profit likely to be repeated? How well is it managed?
 
You will be introduced to the building blocks of analyzing a company, firm or organization. These are:
 
- Short-term liquidity
- Long-term solvency
- Profitability
- Return on investment (ROI)
 
A fundamental understanding of a balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flow is necessary in order to take full advantage of this program.
 
Speaker: Douglas Smith, CPA
Doug Smith, CPA has provided continuing legal education seminars on accounting topics since 1999.  Over twenty state bar organizations sponsor his programs.  He graduated from East Carolina University and studied accountancy at University of Memphis. Doug served as Chief Financial Officer at Sierra Nevada College where he was also adjunct instructor in the Department of Business. He performed audit and consulting duties with the firm Ernst & Whinney (Ernst & Young). Doug is a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
