About the Seminar
This course will present what happens when a child enters alone in the United States via the Mexico border. This course provides an overview of unaccompanied children fleeing their home countries, including immigration detention process, placement procedure of children, appearance in immigration court, and the basic protections for children. This course will also identify relevant international treaties and the United States Refugee Act of 1980. The course will conclude with an outline of relief for unaccompanied children, including asylum, the United Nations Convention Against Torture Act, special immigrant juvenile status, temporary protected status, The Violence Against Women Act of 1994, T visa, U visa, and motion practices.
