About the Seminar
Dementia is an increasingly common and devastating disease that is affecting all areas of society. The legal profession is certainly no exception. If you are engaging in the practice of law, you will inevitably face the ethical dilemmas, tactical challenges, and unpredictable nature of attempting to address the needs of a patient with dementia. The questions can range from addressing urgent needs such as the selection of a care giver, the preparation of a power of attorney, guardianship or conservatorship, or the need to prepare and preserve the testimony of an individual with unpredictably declining mental capacity.
 
There are also serious issues involved in representing the care giver, who is undertaking serious responsibilities and liabilities in an often difficult and heart wrenching environment. The better informed legal counsel is about the condition and the legal issues which typically arise, the more that can be done to assist and protect the client or family in time of need.
