About the
Seminar
The SC Bar CLE Division is proud to offer three dynamic and knowledgeable speakers on the practical aspects of trial practice persuasion, cutting edge trial technology, and legal ethics and lawyer mental health and well-being.
The morning
session features presentations by Stuart Teicher - the CLE Performer. First,
Stuart will deliver a powerful and thought-provoking two-hour ethics
presentation entitled “Siri and Alexa Are Out to Get You.” In this discussion,
Stuart will cover the topics like technology and the lawyer’s duty to maintain
competence (Rule 1.1), problems inherent in using virtual assistants (Rule
1.6), Artificial Intelligence and confidentiality (Rule 1.6), supervision (Rule
5.1/5.3), and deep fakes and our duty to advise (Rule 2.1). He will also
discuss issues with the Metaverse – misconduct (Rule 8.4; Rule 3.4) and Issues
with digital signatures (Rule 1.0). Stuart will next provide that all-important
SA/MH credit hour with a powerful and practical analysis of lawyer mental
health with “What my Facebook Posts Teach about Lawyer Mental Health.” Stuart
posts some funny stuff on Facbook while on the road as a CLE teacher. But the
difference is that most of his posts actually teach some important mental
health lessons for lawyers. Join him as he discusses how lawyers are affected
by anxiety, compassion fatigue, over-functioning, and more.
The afternoon
portion of our seminar features Charleston lawyer and national speaker Justin
Kahn, as well as New Jersey litigator Jonathan Lomurro. Justin and Jonathan
will teach you how to develop your litigation practice without breaking the
bank (or your mind) by adding affordable software and the skills to seamlessly
use that software in your next trial.
