Event Information

Chris has been practicing for over 25 years and brings a wide range of experience as a former prosecutor, and defense attorney for insurers and those charged with crimes. He focuses his practice on the representation of community associations in all areas: formation and operation, collections, and litigation. As a member of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and is a regular presenter at CAI events.   He has appeared on WSOC and WCNC News as an expert in community association law and has been published in Common Ground Magazine, a CAI publication.  He is a member of the South Carolina Bar Community Association Law Committee.  Chris is a 1996 graduate of Regent University Law School in Virginia Beach, and is admitted to practice in North and South Carolina, Maryland, and Federal Courts.

Ely Grote graduated from Iowa State University in 2003.  He then attended Drake University Law School and received a Juris Doctor with high honors in 2006.  After graduating from law school, Ely worked for one year as a law clerk for the Honorable James C. Williams, Jr., South Carolina Circuit Court Judge.  Ely then practiced law with a law firm in Columbia for nine years, where his practice primarily focused on insurance defense.  Ely joined the firm of McCabe, Trotter & Beverly, P.C. in 2016.  He is currently a shareholder with McCabe, Trotter & Beverly, P.C., and his practice currently focuses on community association matters and general civil litigation.  Ely has been a member of the South Carolina Bar since 2006.  Ely is a member of the South Carolina Bar Community Association Law Committee, and he also periodically serves as a panelist/presenter for Community Associations Institute events.

Elliotte Quinn received his undergraduate degrees with honors from the College of Charleston and his law degree with high honors from Emory University School of Law. While at Emory, he was on the Emory Law Journal and served as it’s Executive Articles Editor. He received several honors and awards while at Emory, including the Pro Bono Medal for his work providing legal services to those in need, the Order of the Coif, the Paul Bryan Prize, and the International Association of Defense Counsel’s legal writing prize. Following law school, Elliotte served as a law clerk for a federal district court judge in the Northern District of Alabama and then served as a law clerk for Justice Kaye Hearn on the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Prior to joining the Steinberg Law Firm, Elliotte was a litigator in the Charleston office of a regional law firm where he primarily defended several of the largest national homebuilders in construction defect cases. He also handled a wide variety of other legal matters ranging from drafting construction contracts to litigating business disputes and personal injury claims. Elliotte joined the Steinberg Law Firm in Charleston in 2018 to develop a practice representing HOAs and homeowners addressing construction defects and other HOA legal issues.

Elliotte is a member of the South Carolina Bar’s Construction Law Section and Community Association Law Committee and the American Bar Association’s Forum on Construction Law. He has authored numerous articles in the construction law field, including co-authoring a chapter in The 2017 A201 Deskbook covering revisions to the industry’s most common form construction contracts. Elliotte serves as a delegate on the SC Bar of Delegates for the 1st Judicial Circuit, on the Legislative Affairs Committee for the South Carolina chapter of the Community Associations Institute, and on the boards of directors for the South Carolina chapter of the Community Associations Institute, My Sister’s House, and the Palmetto Project.
