Casey originally hails from Los Angeles—she asks that you don’t hold that against her. She made her way east in 1998, starting at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in English Literature and an emphasis in skiing. After graduating from CU, she moved east and met her husband in Bar Harbor, Maine, where they ran farm to table restaurants on the island. After bouncing around from Bar Harbor to Asheville, and then to Denver, she joined a mass tort litigation firm as a paralegal. When her husband’s job moved them Charleston in 2013, Casey enrolled at Charleston School of Law. During law school, she held legal externships at DHEC’s Office of Coastal Resource Management; the Chambers of the Hon. Richard M. Gergel; and the South Carolina ACLU. She graduated Cum Laude from CSOL in 2016 and received the William Regan award for Outstanding Public Service. Casey began in private practice at MHC Law in Charleston representing employees in employment litigation, and counseling small businesses on employment matters. In 2020, Casey and her family moved to Brevard, North Carolina and she joined the Kim Lahey & Killough Law Firm, where she counsels employer and employees on employment matters, as well as practices business litigation, usually involving intellectual property disputes. She has been recognized as a South Carolina Rising Star in Employment Law, and SC a Legal Elite of the Upstate by Greenville Business Magazine. Casey has two great kiddos, two crazy dogs, and a husband who’s busy with his estate liquidation business. She loves the sound of the stream out her home office window.

Doug has worked in industries including manufacturing, medical devices, medical supplies, advanced materials, the casino industry, automated expert systems, e-commerce, data encryption systems, color processing, nuclear waste processing, nuclear power, medical imaging, automotive components and accessories, computer networking, tires and the sports industry.
