2025 SC Family Law Trial Academy

February 14, 2025 - February 17, 2025


THIS PROGRAM IS FULL

The Family Law Trial School is an intensive workshop program designed for practitioners seeking to sharpen their litigation skills in Family Court. The focus will be on courtroom skills necessary for effective advocacy in Family Court and is geared to those who lack substantial Family Court trial experience. The program is limited to 32 attendees and will feature a large and diverse faculty of experienced practitioners, as well as judges from the Appellate, Circuit, and Family Court benches. Course materials will include a fact pattern for a fictional case, along with the South Carolina Rules of Evidence, Civil Procedure, and Family Court, which will be applied to the case. Participants will engage in exercises, including opening statements, closing arguments, and direct and cross-examinations.  The program will conclude with each team conducting a half-day mock trial.
