Honorable Alan D. Clemmons

Alan Delk Clemmons is a native of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and is a graduate of Myrtle Beach public schools.  He attended the University of South Carolina, where he graduated in 1982.  Clemmons attended the Hamline University School of Law and graduated in 1989.  He was sworn in as a member of the South Carolina Bar in June of 1990, initially practicing with the Myrtle Beach law firm of McCrackin, Barnett and Richardson.  He subsequently began his own transactional and litigation-oriented law firm in 2005 and practiced with the firm, Clemmons Law Firm, LLC, until 2021. Clemmons was nominated as a Judge of the South Carolina Circuit Court, Equity Division, by the Horry County Delegation of the South Carolina General Assembly and was subsequently appointed by Governor Henry D. McMaster and confirmed in a Joint Session of the South Carolina Senate and the South Carolina House of Representatives. He was sworn-in as the Horry County Master in Equity on February 28, 2022, by South Carolina Supreme Court Justice Kaye G. Hearn. Judge Clemmons presides in the Horry County Courthouse located in Conway, South Carolina. He is married to the former Laura Ann Fipps and they have two daughters, Alayne and Kelly.

Beginning in 2002, Judge Clemmons served 18 years as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives representing the City of Myrtle Beach. During his tenure in the South Carolina General Assembly, he chaired the Rules Committee and served on the Judiciary and the Ways and Means Committees. Following retirement from the South Carolina House of Representatives, he was appointed to serve as Director of the South Carolina Bureau of Economic Advisors until his ascension to the court. 

Judge Clemmons was National Chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council (2019). Additionally, he served as Chairman of the South Carolina Judicial Merit Selection Commission (2018). President of the Pee Dee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America (2003-2005), and Chairman of the Horry County Republican Party (1997-2000). In his young adulthood, Judge Clemmons served a two-year lay mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the indigenous Maya community of Southern Mexico and the border region of Guatemala which, he says, "laid the groundwork of my life-ambition to serve others."

As an attorney, Judge Clemmons was honored with the Martindale-Hubbel AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating. Other honors include Order of the Palmetto, Governor Henry D. McMaster (2020); Thomas Jefferson Freedom Award, American Legislative Exchange Council (2020); Aaron Solomon Award for Service to Humanity, Brith Shalom Beth Israel Congregation (2018); Honorary Doctor of Philosophy, La Universidad Rural de Guatemala (2018); Lifetime Achievement Award, World Jewish Congress and Knesset Christian Allies Caucus (2018); National Outstanding Eagle Scout, National Eagle Scout Association (2018); Legislator of the Year, South Carolina Republican Party (2010 and 2012) and Outstanding Alumnus of the Year, Coastal Carolina University (2004).

Mr. Crawford is a certified specialist in Bankruptcy and Debtor-Creditor Law, South Carolina Supreme Court (resident).

Kelley Y. Woody

Columbia, SC

Kelley Yarborough Woody was graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1991 with a B.A. in History and is a 1994 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. After law school she clerked for the Honorable David McInnis and the Honorable Duane Shuler. She worked for the Finkel Law Firm for several years before starting her own small practice focusing on Guardian ad Litem work in the foreclosure  and quiet title fields.

Kelley is a member of the South Carolina and Richland County Bars as well as the South Carolina Women’s Law Association. She is a former chair of the Board of Children’s Hospital of Prisma Health and an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church.  She is a proud of mom of two adult children.

The Honorable Mikell R. Scarborough is a master-in-equity for the Charleston County Equity Court in South Carolina. He was appointed to the bench on June 21, 2003. 

Prior to his appointment, Scarborough managed his own private practice since 1999. He first entered private practice in Columbia, SC, in 1987 before returning to Charleston in 1991. Before that, Scarborough was an assistant solicitor in Lexington (1985 to 1987) and a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Owens Cobb with the Circuit Court and Hon. Lee Chandler with the Supreme Court of South Carolina. 

In addition to his practice, Scarborough was an assistant county attorney in Charleston County (1998 to 2003). 

He received a B.A. from the University of the South in 1980. Scarborough then completed a J.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1983.  

He served as a member and past chairman of the Charleston County Planning Commission and was a representative for the Charleston County Election Commission. Scarborough was also involved with the Charleston County Public Defender Corporation and was a proxy to the Berkley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments. 

He was born in Charleston, South Carolina. Scarborough and his wife, Mary, have three children.
