The Honorable Ralph King Anderson Jr.

South Carolina Requests to Charge Criminal, Second Edition includes numerous chapters and a multitude of individual charges covering all of the major criminal offenses in South Carolina. Every single substantive charge is supported by numerous citations to pertinent South Carolina authority when such authority exists.

This updated Second Edition contains 25 new charges on offenses created by the 2010 Omnibus Crime Act. In this Act the South Carolina General Assembly as a policy decision abolished several very important common law offenses and replaced them with statutory offenses. Examples of this include the abolishment of "assault and battery with intent to kill" and replacing this common law offense with the statutory offense of "attempted murder." The statutory offense of "lynching" was replaced by "assault and battery by a mob."

The most extensive changes in the Second Edition relate to the drug laws. Highlights of these changes include: the creation of new offenses in the "trafficking" area; the extensive modification in the law of "possession with intent to distribute;" the increased burden on the State in the offenses of possession and sale of a drug within proximity of a school or park, and the enormous changes in the penalty provisions. The Second Edition also contains numerous amendments to the existing charges involving elements to the offenses and definitional requirements.

Each purchase of the hardcover text will automatically include the entire text on a CD. This will allow you to perform a keyword search as well as copy and paste any charge into your own documents, database and/or emails.

Judge Anderson has produced a volume that no South Carolina lawyer practicing criminal law should be without!
