Professor Thomas R. Haggard and Elizabeth Scott Moïse, Esquire

Beginning in 1989, Professor Tom Haggard's popular column The Scrivener appeared in the
South Carolina Lawyer offering practical and scholarly advice on legal writing. In 1996, the CLE Division reprinted and published all of his columns in book form. Due to its popularity and usefulness as a resource tool, the Second Edition was released with even more great tips on the art of legal writing.

In 2000, Professor Haggard's authorship ended, and in November 2002 Scott Moïse picked up The Scrivener's quill pen making her own inestimable published contributions to the art of legal writing.

This brand new Third Edition is a compilation of Professor Haggard's and Scott Moïse's best and most useful information, with many columns having been updated and expanded. Loaded with practical advice and easy-to-follow examples (including those on litigation-related topics), the Third Edition is a handy reference for punctuation and grammar questions, as well as a guide to brief writing and legal drafting of all kinds. This resource is a must for any practicing attorney.
