About the Seminar
Human trafficking is a
criminal enterprise that enslaves and exploits primarily children and women.
This course will provide an overview of human trafficking laws and forms of
trafficking. We will review the United Nations Palermo Protocol and the
enactment of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act in 2000 and its subsequent
amendments. We will evaluate federal human trafficking cases, including
immigration, criminal, and other collateral trafficking matters. The course
will further examine civil and criminal remedies for victims of trafficking.
Finally, the course will explore how to identify human trafficking victims and
what resources could be offered to trafficking victims and survivors.
Mandatory MCLE Credit Hours
This seminar qualifies for 1.0 MCLE credit hour. This seminar also qualifies for 1.0 Criminal for Summary Court Judges.
