THIS ONDEMAND PROGRAM IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ACCREDITATION OUTSIDE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

About the Seminar
Technological advancements, the growth of regional and national law firms, and a desire to focus on work- life balance are putting pressure on the traditional regulation of the practice of law based on geography. More and more lawyers are looking for flexibility to practice law beyond their home states’ borders without the necessity of multiple bar admissions. The notion that lawyers should only practice law where they are physically located is being tested – especially as law firms and corporate legal employers have become more comfortable with remote work and telecommuting during the COVID pandemic. But navigating the varying state laws and conduct rules can be complicated. Before a lawyer visits a state without being licensed there, it is essential to research that state’s requirements and restrictions to avoid disciplinary consequences there and at home. This program introduces lawyers to the myriad of intersecting rules and regulations that can create a trap for the unwary.

Speaker: Barbara M. Seymour – Clawson & Staubes
