Expert testimony in criminal trials not only must comply with the rules of evidence, but also with the Sixth Amendment and Crawford.  While an expert is sometimes allowed to testify to hearsay statements, it can become complicated when the hearsay is testimonial in nature.  This CLE explores the rules of evidence for experts and the interactions with testimonial statements and new South Carolina case law.
