About the Seminar
The SC Bar CLE Division is proud to present the 2015 South Carolina Probate Bench Bar Seminar. Course planners Judge Carolyn Rogers and Judge Molly Edwards have recruited a distinguished and experienced faculty to guide you through some of the most important issues trending in probate practice, litigation and ethics in South Carolina.
This year's program features a number of practical presentations, including a panel discussion of the interplay between federal and state courts in regard to same sex marriage in South Carolina by United States District Judge Henry Floyd, Chief Justice Jean Hoefer Toal and Greenville County Probate Judge Debora Faulkner. In addition, Jim Hardin will answer tricky questions about trusts that you've been afraid to ask, Chad McGowan and Tim Sharpe will walk through the nuances of structured settlements and other issues in wrongful death and minor settlement cases, Tricia Ravenhorst will provide insights on marriage license issues when dealing with foreign nationals, and Judges Mary Blunt and Russ DeMott will clarify some of the quirky provisions sometimes seen in wills. This year's special program also features an Article 5 update by Judge Ashley Amundson and Michael Bridges, a fun and informative evidence primer by Justin Kahn, a full hour of ethics for the probate practitioner by Cam Lewis and Professor Alan Medlin's popular case law and statutory update.
