About the Seminar
Originally recorded at the SC Bar CLE Seminar "A Look Back: Lessons and Legacies from the Trenches," this presentation chronicles the final murder trial of Pee Wee Gaskins, South Carolina`s most prolific serial killer. Gaskins` trial, for the November 12, 1982, contract killing of fellow inmate Rudolph Tyner, was tried by then prosecutor Dick Harpootlian and defense attorney Jack Swerling. Don`t miss these two legends of the trial bar sharing their sometimes humorous, often disturbing experiences from trying an historic case. Harpootlian and Swerling use transcripts and even exhibits from the actual trial to tell their story, and their presentation carries a resonant message about what it means to be a trial lawyer.
Speakers: Richard A. Harpootlian/Jack B. Swerling
